‘in one | with love’ is the first recorded project from clarinetist/vocalist Lana-May Hodge and pianist George Webster. Six songs, two friends, one studio room, one day and in one take, this collection of beautiful old tunes is not only a display of their deep love and respect for the early traditions of jazz and blues from New Orleans, but also a display of love and respect these two musicians hold for one another. Lana and George have been musical collaborators and great friends for a little over two years, playing together in the cafes of Soho, on the cabaret stages of the West End, and anywhere else that will have them – and in this short time they have grown together musically in a magnificent way. Their lives were in alignment even prior to meeting, having both grown up in London on opposite sides of the east of the River Thames, with fairly parallel musical journeys that lead them to working together. Both Lana and George are classically trained on clarinet and piano respectively, both sought the freedom of expression jazz could provide, and both share the exact same sentiments in their approach to it.
This EP is a celebration and reflection of their journey so far, and a marker to which they will continue their journey from.
Expect a magical evening of music, love and laughter, as Lana and George take you through the first collection of songs they chose to record, some songs they may record in future, and a few original tunes penned by Lana over the last year.
